Letters without an address
Multi channel video installation, photographic series with text, and spoken word, 2016
Letters Without an Address integrates video footage shot across Dallas, Texas (US), with subtitles presenting fictional letters written in response to news reports and historical events related to racism and segregation. The installation was first shown at the McKinney Arts Center (MAC) in conjunction with a photographic series at the Reading Room, Dallas, in 2016. A review by Danielle Avram can be read [here].
Three of the four letters are addressed to individuals who have either disappeared or been forced out of their homes for reasons that remain unknown. The fourth, Dear Castle People, extends its perspective beyond Dallas, drawing on research into regional and national news reports. It acknowledges countless individuals across various communities and cities who have been marginalized, excluded, tortured, or incarcerated.
Documentation of the multi-channel video installation will be available on November 11, 2024.
First exhibited at the McKinney Arts Center, Dallas, TX, 2016.
